Police warn about Immigration Canada phone scam

An official warning was released from Waterloo Regional police last week to inform residents of a scam phone call that is claiming to be representing the Immigration Canada.  According to many complaints the person making the calls has been asking Canadians to pay $2,500 for a ‘voucher’, and if the residents refuse, there will be criminal charges against them.

Police are advising residents to never share any personal information or funds over the phone call they cannot recognize.

Police also remind residents to seek police help if they receive a similar call, in which someone threatens police involvement to collect money.
